This paper critically examines the emerging role of public libraries in the context of the digital age and advocates for their proactive redefinition to meet the diverse needs of contemporary society. Drawing from a wide array of literature, it emphasizes the pivotal role of libraries in bridging the digital divide by providing free access to digital resources and fostering digital literacy among various communities. Furthermore, the paper explores the multifaceted functions of public libraries beyond their traditional role as book repositories, highlighting their significance as cultural hubs, guardians of indigenous knowledge, and inclusive community spaces. It envisions the future importance of public libraries as dynamic entities that seamlessly integrate physical and virtual information world, embracing emerging trends such as gaming integration, public Wi-Fi provision, and innovative media platforms. In essence, this paper calls for a paradigm shift in the perception and operation of public libraries, urging stakeholders to adapt to changing societal dynamics and embrace innovative approaches that empower libraries to remain relevant and impactful in the 21st century.

This article is an effort to give a step-by-step idea of serial subscription as well as renewal process using Koha Library Management System (LMS) that is adopted by Rabindra Library of Assam University. This will help the new libraries going for Koha implementation to maintain the record of serials as well as the renewal process.

In the present study, the ICT-based library services provided in a public library has been discussed with special reference to the National Library of India. The paper also explores the possibility of introducing other modern ICT-based user services where the National Library can initiate those facilities to its users. The main objective of this study is to examine the services provided by the National Library of India to its esteemed users.
